Lübeck

Lübeck situa-se a nordeste de Hamburgo, na foz do Rio Trave, com uma população de cerca 220000 habitantes. O seu porto é o segundo maior porto alemão do Mar Báltico e é famosa por ter sido o berço e a capital da Alemanha. Com cerca de 217.000 habitantes, Lübeck é a segunda maior cidade da costa alemã do Báltico. É chamada de "Die Stadt der 7 Türme" (a cidade das sete torres) por causa das sete torres de igrejas que se conseguem ver. O centro da cidade é o mais extenso Património Mundial da UNESCO da Alemanha.

Lübeck is located northeast of Hamburg, in the mouth of the Trave River, with a population of about 220000 inhabitants. Its port is the second biggest German port in the Baltic Sea and the city is famous for having been the cradle and capital of Germany. With about 217000 inhabitants, Lübeck is the second biggest city in the Baltic coast of Germany. It is called "Die Stadt der 7 Türme" (the city of the seven towers) due to its seven Church towers. The city centre is the largest UNESCO World Heritage Site in Germany.

Lübeck é famosa pelo centro medieval com as suas igrejas e pequenas vielas. Grande parte da cidade velha preservou a sua aparência medieval, com prédios e ruas estreitas em todo o seu centro histórico.

Lübeck is famous for its medieval centre with churches and small alleys. A big part of the old city has preserved its medieval appearance, with narrow buildings and streets along its historical centre.

Holstentor

O Holsten Gate é um portão da cidade que marca a fronteira ocidental do centro antigo de Lübeck, com o objetivo de a proteger de ameaças externas. Construída em 1464, a construção gótica de tijolos é uma relíquia que representa as fortificações medievais da cidade de Lübeck e um dos dois portões que ainda existem na cidade. Conhecido por suas torres de duas voltas e entrada em arco, é considerado hoje como um símbolo da cidade e é Património Mundial da Unesco desde 1987. É composto por uma torre sul, uma torre norte e um edifício central com quatro pisos, servindo de museu e que pode ser visitado.

The Holsten Gate is a city gate marking the western border of Lübeck's old city centre, aiming to protect it from external threats. Built in 1464, the gothic brick construction is a relic representing Lübeck's medieval fortifications and one of two existing gates in the city. Known for its two-turn towers and arch entrance, it is today considered to be a city symbol and is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. It comprises of a south tower, a north tower and a central building with four floors, serving as a museum which can be visited.

É o maior museu do mundo, situado no centro da cidade de Hamburgo, que consiste na representação de uma rede ferroviária e um aeroporto em miniatura, a maior do gênero no mundo.

O início da construção foi em dezembro de 2000 e em dezembro de 2021, a rede ferroviária consistia em 16.138 m linhas em em escala H0, divididos em nove seções: Montanhas Harz, a cidade fictícia de Knuffingen, Alpes e Áustria, Hamburgo, América, Escandinávia, Suíça, uma réplica de Aeroporto de Hamburgo, Itália e América do Sul, ocupando uma área de 1.545 m2. A exposição inclui 1.300 comboios compostos por mais de 10.000 vagões, mais de 100.000 veículos, aproximadamente 500.000 luzes, 130.000 árvores e 400.000 estatuetas humanas. Também está em processo de planeamento a construção de linhas para a América Central e Caribe, Ásia, Inglaterra, África e Países Baixos. Pela qualidade, complexidade e efeito real, parecendo mesmo que os locais têm vida, é um museu que se recomenda visitar.

It is the largest museum in the world, located in the centre of Hamburg, boasting a representation of a rail network and an airport in miniature, the biggest of its kind in the world.

Construction work began in December 2000 and, in December 2021, the rail network consisted of 16.138 metres of railways in H0 scale, divided into nine sections: Harz Mountains, the fictional city of Knuffingen, Alps and Austria, Hamburg, America, Scandinavia, Switzerland, a replica of Hamburg Airport, Italy and South America, occupying a total area of 1.545 square metres. The exposition includes 1.300 trains comprising of over 10.000 wagons, more than 100.000 vehicles, approximately 500.000 lights, 130.000 trees and 400.000 human statues. Railways from Central America and The Caribbean, Asia, England, Africa and the Netherlands are also in the plans for future construction. For its quality, complexity and proximity to reality, giving life to all its places, it is definitely a museum worth visiting.

Dia final do Staff Meeting de Hamburgo. Após uma semana de conhecimento, trabalho no projeto, algumas viagens e muitas caminhadas, este dia final foi aproveitado para relaxar um pouco na zona nobre da cidade.

Final day of the Hamburg Staff Meeting. After a week of knowledge making, working on the project, some trips and lots of walking, this final day was a good opportunity to relax in the city's noble area.

Harvestehude

Bairro misto residencial e comercial, típico da zona onde existem grandes edifícios Gründerzeit bem preservados.

A mixed residential and commercial neighbourhood, where you can find typical and big Gründerzeit buildings, in a good state of preservation.

A tarde terminou com um atípico calor que se fez sentir durante toda a semana, num local onde as pessoas se juntam em pequenos grupos, com o objetivo de prepararem o fim de semana. Local privilegiado da cidade de Hamburgo, em que as aves parecem não ter medo na interação que existe entre elas e os humanos. Transpira-se serenidade!!!

The afternoon ended with an atypical high temperature that was present during the whole week, in a place where people gather in small groups with the goal of preparing for the weekend. Privileged location in the city of Hamburg, where birds seem unafraid of interacting with humans. You can breathe serenity!!!

Final do staff meeting em Hamburgo.

Estes meetings apenas com professores têm como objetivo avaliar a forma que o projeto está a decorrer e também alinhavar futuros meetings, nomeadamente os trabalhos que os alunos têm de preparar para levar, e são igualmente dadas muitas informações importantes para a deslocação aos diversos países.

No final de uma semana muito intensa de trabalho, visitas e algumas viagens dentro da cidade de Hamburgo e também à costa norte alemã, todos ficaram com a sensação de que houve um crescimento enquanto grupo. Todos se ficaram a conhecer melhor e dessa forma dicaram todos alinhados para que os restantes meetings decorram dentro da normalidade e que seja uma experiência enriquecedora para todos (alunos e professores).

Durante esta estadia, foi importante ter-se conhecido um pouco da realidade escolar da escola alemã e de todo o meio envolvente, através da visita guiada proporcionada pelo Professor Proeger.

Dentro do âmbito deste projeto pode-se observar como as autoridades alemãs estão a lidar com o problema da subida do nível das águas do mar (construção de diques e portas estanques), nomeadamente nas zonas mais costeiras a norte e também visitar cidades e locais com grande valor histórico e cultural (Lübeck - primeira capital).

Acreditamos que com estes encontros podemos melhorar em muito o planeamento dos intercâmbios a serem realizados pelos alunos e ao mesmo tempo, também podemos tomar consciência de toda uma preocupação global sobre a água (falta e excesso), o que constitui o alvo deste projeto.

The Hamburg Staff Meeting has come to an end.

These teacher only meetings are carried on with the principal objective of evaluating how the project is unfolding and also plan future meetings, by, for example, deciding which work the students should prepare before the meeting, and exchanging very important information about the journey to the various countries.

At the end of a very intense week full of work, tours and travelling within Hamburg and to the northern German coast, everyone felt the group grew together. Everyone got to know eachother a little better and, as such, allowed future meetings to occur normally and to be an enriching experience for all (students and teachers).

During this stay, it was important to learn more about the participating school in Hamburg and everything around it, thanks to the guided tour provided by teacher Proeger.

Within the scope of the project we could observe how German authorities are dealing with the problem of sea levels rising (building dikes and watertight doors), particularly in the regions closest to the sea on the North, and we could visit culturally and historically valuable cities and places as well (such as Lübeck - the first capital city of Germany).

We believe that with these meetings we can vastly improve planning of future student exchanges and, at the same time, raise awareness of a global concern about water (lack thereof and abundance), which constitutes the main goal of this project.
