Visita a Espanha/Visit to Spain - 4º dia/4th day

Iniciou-se a manhã com um pequeno-almoço tipicamente espanhol, churros e chocolate, que deliciou os miúdos e a maioria dos adultos.

De seguida fez-se um périplo por Fuengirola até ao Instituto Oceanográfico de Málaga.

Then there was a tour from Fuengirola to the Oceanographic Institute of Malaga.

Fundada pelos fenícios, por Fuengirola passaram os romanos, bizantinos, visigodos e mouros, entre outros povos, até sua incorporação definitiva pela Coroa de Castela, em 1485. Separou-se definitivamente de Mijas, em 1841. Anteriormente, uma pequena vila de pescadores, Fuengirola tornou-se uma metrópole vibrante e com personalidade. O advento de muitos bares de tapas sofisticados, bons cafés e restaurantes, intercalados com butiques chiques e outras lojas de interesse, além de praias fabulosas, transformaram-na numa cidade onde se sente constantemente o pulsar de vida.

Founded by the Phoenicians, Romans, Byzantines, Visigoths and Moors passed through Fuengirola, among other peoples, until its definitive incorporation bythe Crown of Castile in 1485. Separated definitively from Mijas in 1841 Fuengirola, formerly a small fishing village, has become a vibrant metropolis.

The emergence of many sophisticated tapas bars, fine cafés and restaurants, interspersed with chic boutiques and others hops of interest, besides the fabulous beaches, have transformed it into a city where you can constantly feel the pulse of life.

Chegados ao Instituto Oceanográfico de Málaga, onde trabalham cerca de 70 cientistas e técnicos, começamos por uma palestra sobre a importância da preservação dos oceanos. Os cientistas dedicam-se a atividades diversas: gestão sustentável dos recursos pesqueiros, ao conhecimento e conservação da biodiversidade marinha, ao estudo dos efeitos das alterações climáticas e da poluição nos ecossistemas, à cartografia dos fundos marinhos ou à avaliação de riscos geológicos, como tsunamis e vulcões submarinos, entre outros temas. Visitamos as instalações e em cada setor os cientistas explicaram como se consegue estudar o fito e zooplâncton, cartografar os fundos oceânicos, estudar o DNA das espécies etc. Vimos como fazer um scanner do plâncton a partir de uma amostra de água e depois observamo-lo ao microscópio. Foi uma atividade muito boa, em que foi possível realizar muitas das aprendizagens relativas à biologia, geologia e química. Os nossos alunos brilharam ao responderem às questões dos investigadores e na colocação de dúvidas.

Arriving at the Oceanographic Institute of Malaga, where around 70 scientists and technicians work, we had a lecture on the importance of preserving the oceans. Scientists are dedicated to different activities: sustainable management of fishing resources, knowledge and conservation of marine biodiversity, the study of the effects of climate change and pollution on ecosystems, the mapping of the seabed or the assessment of geological risks, such as tsunamis and underwater volcanoes, among other topics. We visited the facilities and in each sector the scientists explained how to study phytoplankton and zooplankton, map the ocean floor, study the DNA of species, etc. We saw how to scan plankton from a water sample and then we analysed it under a microscope .It was a very good activity, in which it was possible to carry out many of the learning related to biology, geology and chemistry. Our students were brilliant in answering and asking the researchers' questions.

O almoço foi num restaurante da marina onde o grupo se deliciou com paella e calamares, pratos típicos da gastronomia espanhola. O convívio entre alunos oriundos dos diversos países é cada vez maior, verificando-se uma cada vez maior fluência da língua inglesa.

Alguns alunos não resistiram a dar um mergulho no mar!

Ao final da tarde os professores tiveram uma visita guiada por Málaga e os alunos continuaram num saudável convívio.

E.. claro, foi o momento para cantar os parabéns aos 3 aniversariantes!

Lunch was at a marina restaurant where the group enjoyed paella and calamari, typical dishes of Spanish cuisine.The social interaction among the students from different countries is getting bigger as well as the fluency of the English language.

Some students couldn't resist taking a dip in the sea!

In the late afternoon, the teachers had a guided tour of Málaga and the students continued in a healthy social interaction.

And.. of course, it was time to sing happy birthday to the 3 students!

A manhã desta quinta-feira, dia 23 de fevereiro de 2023, começou em grande. Convívio e animação não faltaram, uma vez que os alunos e professores se dirigiram a um conhecido café da região com vista a conhecerem e provarem o pequeno-almoço Andaluz. Desde os churros com chocolate, aos chás, sumos e cafés, foram várias as opções para o pequeno-almoço.

The morning of this Thursday, February 23, 2023, started strong. Fun and good vibes were present, since students and teachers went to a well-known café in the region to taste the famous and well known Andalusian breakfast. From churros with chocolate, to teas, juices and coffees, there were several options for breakfast.

Ainda durante a manhã, visitamos o instituto oceanográfico espanhol em Fuengirola, uma localidade na vizinhança de Mijas.

Foi aqui que aprofundamos vários conceitos da biologia. Este que é um centro de investigação das ciência do mar, da sustentabilidade dos recursos pesqueiros e do ambiente marinho proporcionou-nos um bom momento de sapiência sobre estas temáticas.

Still in the morning, we visited the Spanish Oceanographic Institute in Fuengirola, a town next to Mijas.In here we deepened several concepts of biology.This research center for marine science, the sustainability of fishing resources and the marine environment provided us with a good moment of knowledge on these topics.

Por fim, visitamos o Porto Pesqueiro de Fuengirola, um local marcado pela imensidão da água, bem como pela diversidade de espécies nela presentes.

O almoço, no porto, foi uma experiência nova para muitos de nós, dado que comemos paella, um prato típico da gastronomia espanhola.

A parte da tarde foi passada em família para alguns, ou na praia para outros, mas a verdade é que a boa disposição e entusiasmo foram o mote deste penúltimo dia de Erasmus, que certamente deixará muitas saudades!

Finally, we visited the Fishing Port of Fuengirola, a place marked by the immensity of the water, as well as the diversity of species.

Lunch at the port was a new experience for many of us, as we ate paella, a typical Spanish dish.

The afternoon was spent with the family for some, or at the beach for others, but the truth is that the good mood and enthusiasm were the motto of this penultimate day of Erasmus, which will certainly be missed a lot.
